Pedigree Analysis
Years ago, we began marketing semen on a silky, black bull from our friends at KI Samen in the Netherlands, who was already turning heads in Europe with his consistent siring pattern. The photos of the Malki daughters caught the eye of U.S. dairymen with their wide balanced frames, beautiful dairy quality, and welded on udders. As daughters began calving in here in the U.S. it became apparent that Malki was going to continue his greatness in our own western hemisphere! The Malki’s just keep getting better as they mature. A good number in the U.S. have already scored Excellent.
Malki semen is no longer available here in the states, so there couldn’t be a better time to launch a son! As you can see from the photo on the right, Jett didn’t fall too far from his paternal tree!
Speaking of family trees, Jett’s maternal line is one with it’s own illustrious story. We dipped back into a good old trusted well of balance and longevity – the ‘J’ family at Mt-Glen Farms in northern Pennsylvania!
Jett’s dam is the perfect kind of cow to be crossed with Malki. Heztry Joy was a tall, flat-boned cow with incredible dairy quality. She made multiple records over 30,000 lbs. In 7 lactations, Joy amassed a lifetime record over 211,000 lbs.
Her dam was an EX-93 Sid daughter, a massive, deep-ribbed cow who made multiple records over 35,000 lbs. Behind her was a VG-88 Phoenix with nearly 200,000 lbs lifetime.
The next cow in this branch of the J family was Jade, A Buck daughter who we considered as a bull mother years ago. She was the daughter of an EX-91 2E Encore, who also finished with well over 200,000 lbs.
That brings us to Jett’s 6th dam, an icon at Mt-Glen farms. Joyful stood in the end stall for years and was loved immensely by Jackson family. This Sunbuck daughter was the epitome of balance. She probably stood about 58” at the shoulder, with incredible width throughout. Joyful would end up with nearly 300,000 lbs. and a legacy that continues even today. She was the 3rd dam of Jonah, a well-known bull from the early days at THS, who maintains influence today through his sons Forrest, Lion King and Lithium.
