Introduction to our 2015 Catalog

Welcome to Triple-Hil Sires

Triple-Hil sires is a unique, small-scale, family-operated Holstein bull stud inspired by our interest in cattle-breeding and moved to action by the increasingly loud voice among breeders all over this country who are weary of the ever changing index system and alarmed by the pell-mell pace of the genomic rush.

Our breeding philosophy has changed little since last year’s catalog was printed. aAa is still the number one principle at Triple-Hil Sires. We believe that this system of animal analysis, created and developed by W. A. Weeks, embodied the true principles of bovine structure and functionality. Using aAa results in common-sense matings that are aimed at matching a cow’s weak points with a bull’s strong points.

We have added a bit more emphasis to a few aspects. Observation of the bulk of Holstein sires in the industry today reveals a huge deficit in bulls displaying the “round” aAa traits 5 and 6. We have resolved to make it a definite effort to tighten our criteria even more and select bulls that have these much sought-after traits. We are also putting an even greater premium on longevity and components in the cow families that we work with.

You will notice that the back part of this catalog contains bulls that do not carry the 525 marketing code. We have branched out and formed a coalition with the owners of other breeder-owned and proven bulls to help market their genetics. These bulls (p. 24-35) are not owned or controlled by Triple-Hil Sires, but we believe they are every bit as good as our own bulls and stand firmly behind them. You can obtain semen on all of these bulls through us as well as other distributors.

The past year has been very rewarding as more Furious and Jesh daughters calve in. The 1st crop of Ready-Red and Foster daughters are also freshening with good results, although they do not have a type proof yet. You will notice that much of the actual proof information is not printed in this catalog. If you are interested in seeing this information, we will definitely get it for you. For the most part, these bulls are unfairly portrayed in a proving system that is designed to sell young genetics.

Last year was a bit slow for us as far as new young sires, with the Fever son from Windy-knoll-View Chanel (525HO109 Champ) being the only new release. This year will prove to be a different story with three or four new young bulls joining our sire lineup. Unfortunately, there was not enough time to get any of them in the catalog. Stay tuned for these unique offerings. Coming soon is a Hanover-Hill Triple-Threat son from nine EX dams straight from the Harry Weier’s Dun-Did breeding. Watch for two exciting young bulls from Luck-E Holsteins in Illonois as well.
