Pedigree Analysis

From our experience and observation, Erbacres Damion is a bull that will do great things in any pedigree. In fact, one of the best bulls in the first 5 years of Triple-Hil Sires was Hotrod, a Damion son. Here now is another Damion son, this time from none other than the world-reknown “Broker Elegance” family.

Emoji’s dam was an EX-92 2E Goldwyn daughter that did wonders for her owners at Gentle Valli Holsteins in Wisconsin. Her dam is the incredible EX-96 4E Linjet Eileen who was All-American 5yr cow in 2004. Then of course, the great Elegance who sealed her reptuation as one of the best trasmitting maternal lines in the world.

This pedigree is stacked with many of the greatest sires of all time. Damion x Goldwyn x Linjet x Broker x Starbuck x Triple-Threat. You can use Emoji with confidence.

* What is 305-AA?

305-AA is the standardized milk, fat, and protein yield estimate used by CDCB to compare cows of different ages, parities, breeds, and regions on equal footing. According to CDCB and USDA AGIL, it represents “a 305-day lactation record at 36 months of age” — hence “Average Age,” or AA.

It replaced 305-ME (Mature Equivalent) in June 2024 for published records and was implemented in the calculation of CDCB genetic evaluations effective August 13, 2024. ME had been the standard since 1935.

How it is calculated
The new factors are applied as a series of separate multipliers for age-parity, season, previous days open, and milking frequency. Lactation records are adjusted upward or downward to what the cow would have been expected to produce as a 36-month-old, milked twice daily for 305 days.

Key adjustments include:

  • Age-parity: Standardized to 36 months rather than ME’s mature range of 61–86 months depending on breed.
  • Season/climate: Seasonal effects are now estimated within five regions defined by the average climate zone scores for each state, replacing the old three east-to-west geographic regions.
  • Milking frequency: Still standardized to 2x milking, unchanged from ME.
  • Previous days open: The methodology for this adjustment is also unchanged from ME.
